I only remember one other time seeing you use the machine to restore headlights. How do you determine whether to use one or not? It also appears that you go from machine to hand and back to machine back to hand. Why is that? You always do incredible work, and inspire me to continue to hone my skills! I’ve got a ‘13 Jaguar XF tomorrow with some insane micro-cracking/crazing going on. I do everything by hand and starting with 220 tomorrow.
I’ll mainly use the machine as a starting grit to remove a tough factory coating but also like using it during the sanding process sometimes. Instead of always alternating sanding directions by hand, once in a while I’ll use the machine in the same manner, I’ll know when I’m done sanding with it by the previous grit being no longer visible
Do i have to use 2k clear? Have you used any other clear?

This is not simple..I have done this exact same process since 2012 on headlights and it takes between 60 to 90 minutes to complete
just because it takes time doesnt mean its not simple. its hard to fuck up.

Cheap clear coat yes but 2K is good for up to 6 years
I see that you’re using a 220 grit at the beginning unlike your other videos, where you start with a 400 grit. Is that a step I can skip?
@@MSGtJimator for this Macan 400 just won’t be effective enough as a starting grit. It won’t remove the factory coating. It depends on what kind of headlights you have

Won’t 600 800 grit work and then just buff it?
No as that will remove the factory clear coat. You would then have to restore the entire headlight. I have other videos that show that whole process
Where do you buy that clear coat
What about the debris from the air when spraying outside? I know you are using talk cloth after the first coat but when you apply the heavy coat still somethings can land on the wet paint. Or should i just do it and stop thinking about it?
It’s pretty rare that something lands on it honestly. Just make sure to do it in a clean area outside. The 2k dries and loses tackiness super fast so debris won’t have much time to land on it

I don’t use it since they are not fully transparent. Applying 2k after 800-1000 will provide great adhesion
